Note: The Bimmer Club LA team has determined that this clutch kit will not fit MFactory flywheels. The Bimmer Club LA does not sell Team MFactory flywheels but has assisted customers who have had fitment issues with Spec clutch kits and Team MFactory flywheels. Having seen the issues in person at our facility we have determined that the spacing and size of the dowels on the Team MFactory flywheels cannot fit the dowel hole sizing or spacing on the Spec clutch kits. It also appears that modification to the dowel holes on the pressure plate is not possible as the dowel hole size difference is significant. However, the Spec clutch kits perfectly fit the Spec 6 bolt and 8 bolt steel/aluminum flywheels. For trouble free installation we recommend ordering this clutch kit with the recommended flywheels as noted in the fitment guide associated with your year and model.

Clutch Kit

Clutch kits are made up of two main components, the clutch friction disc and the clutch pressure plate. Both of these components transfer torque from the flywheel to the transmission. There are several different types of manual transmission clutches in terms of operation but they all perform the same basic function.

Clutches are a pure wear item. In some cases you may have the option to replace a pressure plate or clutch disc separately but it's always best to replace both at the same time along with other components such as the rear main seal, pilot bearing, release bearing, and shifter parts.

Clutch Kit Failure Symptoms

• Slipping under acceleration
• Engine revs freely but vehicle does not accelerate
• Difficulty shifting gears
• Squeaking noises whole clutch pedal is pressed
• Sticky or spongy clutch pedal feel when clutch pedal pressed
• Burning smell from slipping clutch
